Tracking Your An Post Parcel
Whether you're waiting on a gift, an online shopping delivery, or an important document, tracking your parcel gives you peace of mind. An Post provides a free online tracking tool that lets you follow your item's journey from despatch to delivery.
How to Track a Parcel with An Post
- Go to anpost.com/tracking in your browser.
- Enter your tracking number in the search field. This is usually found on your postal receipt, despatch confirmation email, or the label on your parcel.
- Click "Track" to view the current status and history of your item.
You can also track parcels using the An Post mobile app, available on iOS and Android. The app allows you to save tracking numbers and receive push notifications when your delivery status changes.
Understanding An Post Tracking Statuses
Here's a breakdown of the most common tracking statuses you'll encounter:

What to Do If Your Parcel Is Delayed or Stuck
If your tracking hasn't updated in several days or shows an unexpected status, try the following steps:
- Wait 24–48 hours: Tracking systems don't always update in real time. A brief pause is often normal.
- Check your tracking number: Make sure you've entered the correct number — it's case-sensitive.
- Check for a delivery card: An Post posties sometimes leave a card if delivery was unsuccessful — check your letterbox.
- Contact An Post customer service: Call 01 705 7600 or use the contact form on anpost.com if the item hasn't moved in more than 5 working days.
Tracking International Parcels
For items sent to or from other countries, tracking may be more limited depending on the destination. International tracked services (such as Registered Post or Express Mail Service) provide full end-to-end tracking. Standard international mail may only show dispatch and arrival scan points.
